Okay, I am actually listing the "play" first. It has been ridiculously hot here. Highs in the 90s, and lows at night staying in the 70s. So yesterday (Sunday) to beat the heat I wore a very summery dress out to brunch. Looking at the pictures, I am thinking it is not the most flattering silhouette, but it was very light and breezey in the heat.
Today is back to work. I am moving offices, so I decided my normal skirt or dress look would not be practical. Even though one of the guys will be moving the big things, I will still be doing more than my standard sitting at my desk. The capris and t-shirt are both from Goodwill.

not feeling color today
I am just not feeling color today. So I stayed in a monochromatic brown and cream. Just sort of a "meh" outfit. the skirt is Talbot's clearance from January 2009 for about $7. The top is Express via Goodwill ($3.79).

Introducing Bernie the Turtle
I didn't get around to taking a picture outside today. Normally I would have cropped this picture taken inside (please excuse the boxes I have not yet unpacked), but you can see my turtle, Bernie, in the background. She is an old gal.......about 20 years old. How fabulous is she?
This t-shirt is from Target clearance last summer. The skirt is from Apt 9 at Kohl's that came into my life via Goodwill ($3.79). Such a fun summer skirt!

Toile Love
When I go out to Goodwill there are different types of purchases I make. There is that mental list of things I am always looking for.....i.e. still trying to find the perfect white long sleeved button down shirt. Then there are the things that I randomly come across and I can see being easily integrated into my wardrobe. And there are the deals and steals I am always keeping an eye out for......cashmere sweaters in good condition are always good even though I probably don't need any more. But every once and while there is that moment that I come across something so very me that I wonder how I have lived thus far without that piece in my wardrobe. These are the items that make me nervous taking them into the dressing room, because now that I know the item exists, if it doesn't fit I feel I will forever search to find it in my size. This week that item was a slight a-line, toile skirt from Gap. Thank goodness it was my size and fit perfectly, as I am completely smitten with this skirt. The skirt is the perfect length. White and black toile is such a classic print! One of the best $3.79 I have ever spent!

bright orange to go with summer sunshine
This skirt is from last fall on clearance at Target. I like it, but struggle with how to style it. I tried several options this morning, and the orange tank top seemed to be the best option. But I threw on the white shrug for office appropriateness, even though I doubt anyone at work cares what I wear.

Summer Skirt
This is one of my favorite summer skirts. It is so light and breezey. I often wear it with tank tops, but summer air conditioning in the office has me going the t-shirt route today. The skirt is from a consignment store in Calgary, I think I paid under $10 for it. The top is a Kohl's clearance rack find last summer.

new camera
I have a new camera, and it has a delay. This will allow me to take some out door pictures. I have not yet ventured beyond my balcony, but here are a few picture from the balcony.
The dress was found at Goodwill ($4.99). The sweater is a staple and is Target via Goodwill (brand new with tags for $3.79). The sandals are from Target and are kids sized. Oh so cute with the turtles.
I got the capris when I lived in Canada. The top is a new to me Ebay purchase for $3.99. It is very light and breezey for hot summer days.
