summer wardrobe

As an academic, I can wear pretty much what ever I want year round, but this is really true in the summer.  However, I still like to rick skirts and pretty things if I am in the office.  I save the shorts and novelty tees for field work and weekends.

This is todays pick....Talbot's cardigan (bought with a b-day giftcard last year), Old navy skirt (clearance last summer) and an Ann Taylor tee (found at Goodwill).

The last week of classes I had a lunch meeting with some engineering people on campus, and this is what I wore:
The skirt was gap via Salvation army for $1.99.  You can't tell in this picture but it is a black with white stripes on the diagonal.  the blue wrap top is Express and was found at Goodwill.

Diversity wrap-up

These outfits were fromm last week while I was attending a Diversity Institute on campus.

The skirt is Ann taylor Loft on clearance last Fall for under $5.  The top and cardigan are Goodwill, and thus $3.79 each.

The  top  has the cutest floral detailing.  Too bad it doesn't show under the cardigan.

The following outfiot I could not decide which sweater to wear.

The capris were macy's clearance last fall for under $4.  The top is Ann Taylor via Goodwill.  Both cardigans are also Goodwill, the green one is 100% cashmere.  Which cardigan do you think I ended up wearing?

feeling Wicked

I am off to see Wicked tonight!  I am oh so excited!  I have been in an all week diversity institute here on campus, so I needed to wear something appropriate for work and a night of theater.
I decided that since campus buildings are always freezing I could wear a strapless sundress, and just keep the cardigan on all day.  Then for the theater tonight I will just switch the cardigan with a black shrug.  I got this dress in Spring 2009 at Fair Weather for about $30.  The cardigan was Target this past fall.  The sandals are Walmart from years ago.

The semester is over, and final grades are in!  I probbaly won't post too much over the summer, as the main reason I started this blog was just to make sure I wasn't becoming the professor who wears the same thing all the time.  But my outfit yesterday was pretty cute, so I will post below.

The top was a Talbots find at Goodwill.  The skirt is my trusty black pencil skirt that I got on clearnace at Smart Set in 2008.  the sandals are the same as today, only in lime green rather than pink.  Yes, I love them so much I have them in two colors!

What secretaries where in spring.....

This is what I wore last week on Friday.  No classes, but I had a faculty meeting and a thesis defense.  I felt like this is what 1950's secretaries used to wear to work in the spring and summer.

This skirt was a total score at the Salvation Army.....$1.99!!!!!!!

I love the back of it.  The color is a mix of lime green and and a pastely turquoise blue.  Who doesn't love a little gingham?

my office is cold

My office is always cold, hence the cardigan sweater when it is a beautiful day outside.  This entire outfit (except for the sandals) is from Goodwill and the Salvation Army.  The t-shirt is Ann Taylor via the Salvation Army for $1.99.  The skirt was also Salvation Army for $1.49.  The sweater is Ann Taylor via Goodwill ($3.79).  The Belt is NY&Co found at Goodwill for $0.99.  I love these sandals so much that I also own them in lime green......I got them at Walmart several years ago (2004 or 2005?) and they are staples in my summer wardrobe!

End of the semester!

The last few weeks of the semester have been so crazy busy that updating this blog has been the last thing on my mind.  But I have managed to take some pictures during these crazy weeks.  I don't know the dates on them, nor do I have the time to write much about each one.  But at least I am posting something!  :)

I wore this to an awards luncheon last week.....one of my students nominated me for a teaching award!  :)  I was one of 7 faculty members recognized, but I was the only 1st year faculty, and the only faculty in the sciences!  The top is from the Talbots outlet last fall.  The green jackets is from Goodwill (of course).

This top was a $3.79 Goodwill purchase, but is originally Old Navy.

Nothing new in this outfit, just remixing some items from my closet.

The wrap top is 3/4 sleeve and is Forever 21 via Goodwill ($3.79)....the rest of the items I have had for ages.
The grey pants are from White House Black Market and were purchased with a holiday giftcard in January 2009.  The wrap top is Gap via Goodwill.  I know I sound like a broken record, but have I mentioned how totally awesome Goodwill is here?

I wore this casual jeans and pink and white striped blazer when I took my students on a field trip to the local tv station.

This dress is one of my "no thoughts" outfit, and thus represents a day where I just wanted to throw on one piece of clothing, keeping it sweet, simple, and professional.

This time of year is all about banquets.  I wore this Monday, when I needed to be in my office working during the day, but had a dinner banquet with one of my undergraduate students at 6pm on campus.  I took off the cardigan and I was good to go.

This outfit got a lot of discussion due to the black flower.  My male colleagues and male students like to spend an awful lot of time discussing my love of florals.  Whatever, I like it!  The skirt is Ann Taylor Loft, and I found it at the Salvation Army for $2.99.

This dress I got on clearance at Ann  Taylor Loft last Fall (I think under $15).  The cardigan is Ann Taylor via Goodwill ($3.79).  This is the same dress that JoAnn of Sidewalk Chalk wore this as dress #2 of the Dress Project.  I have always worn the dress wit ha lavender cardigan, as that is the first color I see with it, but Jo Ann's styling helped me to see the other colors in this dress.  Of course, I still wore my purple shoes with it!  Added the belt after taking the bottom picture, desiring a little bit more waist definition.  I love that this dress has pockets!

Finally, this is what I am actually wearing today!  The top is Ann Taylor, bought on clearance in the summer of 2008.  The capris are NY&Co vis Goodwill ($3.79).
