date night.

I teach today, but I also have a date after work.  Hard to figure out what was work appropriate yet also date appropriate.  The leopard heels make me happy in a dating world.....okay, who am I kidding, they make me happy regardless.  I got the shoes a few years ago on clearance for about $7.50.  The skirt is a Talbot's sale a year or so ago, but I don't remember the price.  The sage green cami is old.  The white button shirt is Ann Taylor via Goodwill ($3.79), and the sweater is also Goodwill ($3.79).

Friday, woo hoo!

Friday at last....what a week!  This skirt is from Target clearance this past fall.  It is a great year round skirt.  I usually wear it witha black top, so the cream top is a chnage for me.  The wrap top is another Goodwill purchase, and has been worn multiple times.  I love these shoes!  They are from Payless years ago, and are oh so comfy and easy.

funky Thursday

I am sporting a new dress from, where else,  but Goodwill!  This dress still had the tags on it from Target.  What a score for $4.99!  This jacket is from about a year ago, and is my go-to jacket in spring and summer.

The  pattern on this dress makes me happy!  It looked like a potato sack when I first tried it on.....but I knew a belt to give some waist definition would quickly fix that issue.  Plus, belting the dress made it a tad shorter at a more flattering length. I am wearing the purple heels again, because why not?
I love the neckline on this dress....a little bit of ruffles is always good fun!

leopard and purple

I've worn this leopard dress before.  It is a really easy and comfy piece.  Last time I wore a magenta colored cardigan, so this time I decided to go with purple.  Also meant I got to wear my purple heals again, and I am pretty much happy any day I can wear my purple heels!

Fabulous Friday

I don't normally wear a skirt or dress on a Friday, as I have 6 hours of lab to teach, and standing around in a  dress for 6 hours on a Friday just doesn't feel right.  But the weather is so gorgeous here today, I decided I needed some bare legs.  This dress is a Goodwill find ($4.99).  I have had the cream tank underneath for years.  The cardigan is cashmere from Ann taylor and is a wardrobe staple for me.

First wear

This dress was one of my last purchases in December before my only "new to me" new year's resolution for 2010.  I worry that the dress is a tad too short, especially when belted (hence teh lack of belt).   Actually, just too short for the work environment.  So I wore it with black leggings to convince myslef it was "work ok".  Also my boots lack a heel, as that makes the dress seem longer.  The black cardigan sweater is Ann Taylor, that I picked up at where else?  Goodwill.

Happy St. Patty's Day

I normally don;t do holiday wear, but today I was feeling the green. The blue top underneath was a Salvation Army Steal at $0.99.  Too busy today to write anything more.

back from Spring Break

First day back from spring break, so I decided to add a little excitemnet with some animal print.  I scored this White House Black Market skirt via Ebay for $10.  The turtleneck is 100% merino wool from Banana Republic via the Salvation Army ($2.99).  A Co-worker today told me I was looking very much like a go-go girl.  I'll take that as a compliment.  I also feel like it goes with my new sassy haircut.

Hockey Game

Tonight after work I am meeting a colleague to go see a Hockey game.  Thus jeans were definitely in order for today.  Pretty casual with just a striped turtle neck and a cardigan over the top.  Easy-Peasy.

spring break

It is spring break this week, thus I am dressing super casual.  The last 2 days, I worked from home, but I need to head into campus today.  The stuff today: black and white striped tee is from the Talbot's outlet.  The cardigan is Target via Goodwill ($3.79, still had the Target tags on it).  The jeans are from White House Black Market via ebay.  Happy Hump Day, everyone!

Spring-like yet cozy warm

It's not quite feeling like spring outside, but I wish it was so I dressed as if it was spring color pallet wise, but still stayed warm. Olive green corduroy skirt is from Goodwill ($3.79). The sweater is also Goodwill ($3.79). The shoes are from Aldo, and I love anytime I get to wear them. Today one of my students asked me if my shoes were purple, to which I answered an enthusiastic "yes!". The belt is the one I got at TJ Maxx in January for $9.99 and it is getting a lot of wear. I have a purple t-short on under the sweater....my recollection is that it was a Target clearance rack last summer for less than $5.

New LBD!

I finally found just the little black dress I have been wanting. I have 2 other LBDs, but they are too dressy to ever make work appropriate. I have been wanting for months one that I could wear year round with sweaters over or shirts under in winter, but that still would look like a cute sheath in summer, and would look good with short sleeved shirts under in spring.

The other day I decided to stop by the Talbot's Outlet store. With my New year's resolution of only new to me, I have been good and have been avoiding that place. But giftcards are the exception to "new to me", and since I got a $50 Talbot's giftcard at X-mas, I decided it was time to check out the Talbot's Outlet. Lot's of new stuff as all of the stores are starting to ship in what didn't sell in the red hanger sales from right after the holidays. Knowing that I have just a $50 giftcard to spend there in the whole year, I knew I would only be buying a "I can't live without it item"....okay, probably can live with out it, but you know what I mean. I was very excited to find this sheath in my size (even is a petite)! It fits great, and was exactly what I was looking for. It was originally $158......I paid $18.75 plus tax! I still have about $30 on my giftcard....woo hoo! It even has pockets (yes, my hand is in the pocket in the picture to illustrate)! As a professor that is always carrying around keys to my office, the supply closet, the copy room, etc, pockets are an important feature.

There are so many possibilities with this dress! But I decided to start with this shirt I picked up at Ross for $6.99 way back in September, but still hadn't worn. I love the print, but without something over the shirt, it seems like too much print for my small frame. I adore it under this dress. I am usually pretty good about returning items if i haven't worn them within a month of purchase, but this one I had lost the receipt for, and it wasn't worth trying to return without one, even though the tags were still on. Now I am so glad I still had it!
