Back to everyday life

I was at a conference in Seattle last week.  And while I looked quite cute most days, being on the go from 7am to 11pm at night or later did not lend itself to outfit photos.  But I am back home, and after a weekend of post-conference recovery, I am ready to attack this week.

I picked up these pants this weekend at the Salvation Army Thrift Store for $3.99.  They are a nice grey with brown glen plaid and super comfy.  I can see them becoming a staple in my wardrobe on days I feel like pants.  They are a very light weight, but I live at a southern enough latitude to not be worried about that.  The sweater is Ann Taylor via Goodwill.  The cami is from the Talbots outlet.   The burgundy ankle boots are many years old.

don't love the photo

I felt good in this outfit all day, but I don't love the photo.  Oh well, the most important thing is that I felt cute.
The skirt is Gap via the Salvation Army.  The sweater I got when I lived in Canada (circa 2008).  The belt is from Kohls and the shoes are from Aldo.  No idea where or when  I got these tights, but they have a cute herringbone pattern to them.

breaking more rules

I am on a rule breaking frenzy.  Okay, not really.  But I am wearing a white skirt in winter.  And I am doing a rule breaking day on Tuesday, not Monday.

The skirt is White House Black Market via Ebay.  The turtleneck sweater is 100% merino wool, and was found at either Goodwill or the Salvation Army, I don't recall which.  The belt is via Goodwill.

Billy Elliot

Today I had a faculty meeting on campus and then a night at the theater.  My friend J, and I went to see Billy Elliot.  I planned to only wear the cardigan at work, but it was chilly in the theater....plus know one is looking at my dress in a dark theater.

First Day of classes!

First day of the semester.  My class sizes are much smaller this semester. I have 13 in one class and 6 in the other.  Much better than the 27 and 17 I had last semester.  The class with only 6 students I have had 5 of the 6 students before, and the 6th student I have talked to, so it will be a fun intimate class.  My class of 13 is mostly new to me students, they are sort of quiet and scared of me right now.  This is what I wore for my first impression with these new students.
The skirt looks shorter in this picture than it actually is......it rides up when I sit.  I forgot to pull it down before the picture and did not have time to retake.  My car is in the shop so a colleague was picking me up for a carpool.  The skirt is Ann Taylor via Ebay.  The sweater is The Limited via Goodwill.  the blouse is Talbots via Ebay (another one of those purchases that replaced a loved item that I had parted with when I lost weight, and then re-found on Ebay in my smaller size).

Mixing neutrals

Recently Elaine (of Clothed Much) has been talking about breaking our own fashion rules.  So today's outfit is in that spirit.
What fashion rules does this outfit break for me?  Well, I am mixing my neutrals....brown boots with a gray cardigan and black tank top!  Normally I would have grabbed black or gray boots.  Also, I tend to wear skinny jeans with a long tunic, sweater, or cardigan.  Wearing a body hugging cardigan and skinny jeans shows the whole body, so makes me a little self-conscious, but I plan to be brave!
